Foreign Seeds Displace Local Turkish Seeds:
Turkey is an agricultural country, but today 95 percent of our field and vegetable crops are grown from imported hybrid seeds. The majority of these seeds come from the United States, Israel, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Spain. With an annual seed market worth 300 million dollars, Turkey is an attractive market for international seed companies. And the forecast that turnover will rise into billions of dollars with the use of hybrid seeds makes this market even more of a magnet.
