Bees and Beekeeping:

The increase in cases of bees dying or abandoning their hives in the summer of 2007 is causing anxiety among beekeepers in the Datca peninsular. Bees are important not only for the honey they produce, which is a significant source of income for small farmers, but also for pollinating fruit trees. At Betce in the province of Datca most of the bee hives are reported to have been abandoned.
