Pear Grafting Programme in the Ali Kelle Forest,
Bodrum, March 2008
In March 2008 scions from nine local pear varieties were grafted onto wild pear trees growing on 25 acres of land between Dilek Yolu and Kabakum in Ortakent on the Bodrum peninsula. We were helped by Ali Öğer (best known by his nickname Ali Kelle), who had planted nearly 5000 stone pines on this land in 2000 and 2001.
The pear varieties grafted here are the cingil, seker, hirsizalmaz, orak, eksi, karagot,
kocacan, yanıkızıl and Suleyman Hoca.
