Golden Oriole
The October 2008 page of the TRAKUS (Turkish Bird Species) 2008 calendar features the golden oriole, a migratory bird which breeds throughout Turkey in the spring and returns to Africa in the autumn. This is a bird after our own heart, feeding mainly on cherries, grapes, mulberries and figs, and we hope to hear the golden oriole singing throughout the season while we are collecting our samples.
