OBJECTIVES

MAIN OBJECTIVE 

Conservation of the heritage fruit varieties developed by local people in Turkey over the centuries and the ecologically friendly agricultural practices associated with these varieties; and maintaining their contribution to the local economy and food security.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Conservation of heritage fruit varieties and the local traditions associated with these varieties in the province of Mugla, so that these varieties can continue to be a reliable source of food and income for villagers.

Creating awareness of Mugla's local fruit varieties and agricultural biodiversity.

Setting examples of in situ and ex situ conservation of these varieties.

Seeking to maintain the economic viability of heritage fruit production in the villages of Mugla by means of, eg. genetic recording, registration under local names, marketing strategies.
